Kim Miller is a
talented and spirit-filled singer/songwriter, who sings under God’s
anointing.
As a young girl, Kim
sang in the children’s choir at the Apostolic Church of God under
the leadership of Laverne McGee, where she led her first solo. This
was the beginning of her music ministry.
Following her experience
in the children’s choir, she graduated to the young adult choir
called “The Voices of Inspiration”, under the leadership of Darren
Brumfield, where she continued to minister as one of the
choir’s lead singers and chaplain. This is
where Kim developed a deeper passion for ministering in
song.
At the age of 17, Kim was
offered a recording contract to sing secular music, but she refused
to compromise her relationship with God, and turned it down. She
remained a dedicated leader and member of the
choir until
she married and moved to Hawaii.
Kim found herself a little
nervous about moving to Hawaii. She had to leave everything that
was familiar to her behind. The Bible speaks of how your gift will
make room for you, and it certainly did in Hawaii.
There was a popular men’s gospel group on
the island of Oahu called The King’s Men. Coincidently, Kim
and her husband attended the same church as this group. After being
at the church for four months, she became the first woman to sing
with The King’s Men. The group became “The King’s Men featuring
Kimberly Miller”.
While ministering with The
King’s Men, she had an opportunity to open up for Yolanda Adams,
Virtue, Tonex, and she even sang a duet with the late Ronald
Winans. She was featured on The King’s Men’s first
single: “What’s Up, What’s Going On” written
by Aaron Johnson.
As time went on the
group’s leader, Farand Scott decided that it was time for an all
“girls” group.
After visiting other
churches, they found five girls including Kim, and created The
Daughter’s of Zion (DOZ). The five girls created such an awesome
bond and chemistry, that they took the island by storm. Kimberly
had the opportunity to sing with DOZ around the island of Oahu, as
well as Maui. Events included, the Pro-Bowl Prayer Breakfast, the
Hula Bowl, and the Seminar in the Rockies in Estes Park, CO, where
they won first place for the group competition.
She also performed lead vocals for the group as they opened up for
Rachel Lampa, Rebecca St. James, and Joy Lewis, and was one of the
lead singers on DOZ’s first single “Mary”. They made several
appearances on the local radio show KAIM. She was also a lead
singer for the Hawaii Mass Choir.
